Every year First Congregational Church welcomes people of all faith backgrounds as well as no faith backgrounds into formal membership.
Here are some suggestions for those who might be considering membership, but are not sure.
First, attend worship as many times as you can before you make a decision. We have learned over the years that people who join need to know as much as possible about First Congregational Church before they join. The best way is through our worship services! There are a variety of faith communities in the Madison and Dane County area. There are varieties of peoples' needs and desires. Not every church is for every person.
Second, when the time is right while in worship, indicate interest on the friendship pads found in the pews or speak to one of the pastors that you desire to learn more about the church with the possibility of joining. You will be added to a list with others. When the next series of inquiers classes begin, you will be invited to come.
Third, attend the series of three classes (usually held on Sunday mornings before worship) which have been designed for inquiers. This series occurs three to four times a year. The first class is an overview of Christianity. Class two is about the United Church of Christ. Class three is about our particular church, our heritage, our hopes and dreams.
Fourth, you decide whether you want to join formally or not. Whatever your decision, we want you to remain a part of our congregation continuing to join us on Sunday mornings for worship.
Upcoming New Member Orientation
If you are thinking about joining First Congregational UCC or would like to
