Open and Affirming

Open and Affirming rainbow fish; Jesus didn't turn people away, neither do we. United Church of ChristAs a community of God’s Children, the members of FCUCC acknowledge our shortcomings and strive to reach out to all who wish to affirm their faith with us and worship with us as members of this congregation.

We acknowledge that the church has often judged and excluded from the community of faith gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons or has been complicit by its silence. We confess the presence of ignorance, fear, and hatred in ourselves, in the church, and our society, and we ask the grace of God to overcome them.

We invite and welcome all persons without regard to sexual orientation/gender expression to join us in our journey of life and faith and to seek to covenant to be responsible to God and one another.

Accessible to All

United Church of Christ Accessible to All logoFCUCC is continually working to create an inclusive community for individuals living with a wide range of disabilities, from physical disabilities to mental illness. We are officially listed as an Accessible to All (A2A) congregation, a designation awarded by the United Church of Christ Disabilities Ministries, and are trained and certified as Dementia Friendly.

We’ve made renovations and necessary adjustments to convert a 1930’s building into a barrier-free structure that is accessible to all. These features include handicap ramps, elevator, accessible restrooms, hearing loop, wayfaring signs with braille. We continue to provide opportunities and programming for members to expand their knowledge around disabilities of all kinds.
